Initial Occupational Therapy Assessment and Recommendations –
This involves an initial meeting with the child and parents, formal and informal assessment and clinical observation to gain an understanding of the challenges that the child is encountering. Following the initial meeting, a report will be produced that will detail the findings from the assessment and make recommendations for implementation.
Occupational Therapy Review –
This is likely to follow the initial assessment. A chance to review the recommendations initially made and to review the child’s progress and function. The review will take place usually between 3 and 6 months after initial assessment if required. This can be decided on a case by case basis.
Occupational Therapy Observation in an Educational Setting –
This can be completed in the school setting with parent and school staff agreement. It often enables a wider picture to be presented of the child and the challenges that they face.
Periods of Occupational Therapy –
A series of therapy sessions may be recommended following initial assessment for the child to work on targeted activities to develop skill and function.
Areas of Skill Development that are considered: Handwriting challenges, lack of independence with self care activities and functional skills, posture, sequencing, energy conservation, fine motor skill acquisition and more.
Boost Potential Ltd has strong links with Children’s Physiotherapists and Children’s Speech and Language Therapists if advice is required in these specialties.
